This FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer) is a fibre-glass type material made by the pultrusion process using continuous glass fibre and vinyl-ester resin system giving high strength, rigidity, light weight, moisture and corrosion resistance.
Product on offer is either offcuts/surplus from commercial projects or factory downgrade/seconds (see Downgrade* section below).
- Extremely long life (provided the material is painted where exposed to direct sun.
- Will not rust, rot or be eaten by termites.
- Can be cast into concrete, driven as a pile or simply backfilled with rammed earth.
- Cuts best using diamond blade.
- High screw hold capacity (eg 14G Galv or SS wood screws)
- Black plastic caps are also available
- Weight per metre – as shown attached dimension sheet

Downgrade* can include
- Dimensional, geometry or straightness inaccuracies – do not normally cause problems for DIY projects
- Colour variations or markings – for any aesthetic or UV applications we recommend painting.
- Weathered surface – needs some cleaning, sanding, buffing preparation to ensure good adhesion of paint.
- Dry fibre on inside (lessening the effective wall thickness) – minor cases do not significantly impact strength. Suitability depends on the application and severity of the defect. Mostly the inside will not be visible in final use – being covered by an endcap of some sort. For pipe applications involving water flow, this dry fibre can dislodge and cause blockage/restriction.
- Grooving to outside or inside – does not normally impact strength, but can be noticeable after painting
- Scaling/ flaking of local resin areas on the inner or less often the outer surface. Can normally be scraped or sanded off.
- Misc processing defects can be present eg cracking, voids, blistering or lack of cure. – It is intended that materials are screened for serious defects of this nature, but slight occurrences may be evident.

- Factory Downgrade/Seconds products have failed to meet 100% of manufacturer or importers quality control measures. Some of the faults that are reported with these products include but are not limited to: strength reduction, colour variations and premature fading, chips, cracks, air holes/ bubbles. Factory Downgrade/Seconds do not come with any Certificate of Compliance.
- It is recommended that when purchasing factory second product you consider its suitability for your application – loading, damage risk, degree of UV exposure, appearance expectation, life expectation? The use of Factory Seconds product for your application is at your own risk. No warranty or liability will be accepted.
- You are welcome to inspect the pack before collection. Please note – that pallets are packed and strapped at the factory of origin and it is not feasible to inspect every piece prior to a pallet leaving our yard.
